Miami Mayor Francis Suarez raised nearly $1 million in direct contributions in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in the first few weeks of its launch, getting financial support from colleagues at the law firm he works for, a number of land use attorneys and plenty of local developers.

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan lawyers contributed a combined total of $34,000 to the campaign, including name partner John Quinn, who gave the max—$3,300—on the second day of its launch.
