Making partner at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. Having the vision and opening Buchanan’s first South Florida office around 1991.

Subjectively, what are your proudest or most personally satisfying achievements?

Spending my entire legal career, 40 years, working for the same law firm, being part of its growth into a national firm and having many family clients I have represented for almost as long.

How are the business and profession of law changing, and are Florida lawyers well positioned for the future?

Technological advancements and more sophisticated consumers of legal services have dramatically altered the way we practice law and operate as a business. This trend will continue and probably accelerate. Florida lawyers have embraced these changes and are well-positioned to serve changing client demands for legal services going forward.

What advice would you give to someone contemplating a career in law, or someone whose career in law has not been satisfying so far?

“Go for it!” A legal education will open endless doors of opportunity whether you practice law or not. If your career in law has been unsatisfying, search for a different spot in the profession or find another, more satisfying career. The skills you have acquired as a lawyer can be used in virtually any profession or career.
