A jury awarded nearly $700,000 to a man who was shot in a dispute at a Miami automotive shop.

On Nov. 17, 2015, plaintiff Jermell Broughton, a man in his 40s, visited an automotive-repair shop that was located at 7098 NW Second Ave., in Miami. Broughton became involved in a verbal altercation with another customer, Felipe Lizano. Workers pushed Broughton and Lizano into the premises’ parking lot. Lizano eventually departed but soon returned with two other men. The altercation resumed, and Lizano shot Broughton. Broughton suffered injuries of a leg and other areas. Lizano was arrested and ultimately convicted of attempted murder.
