Shawn Amuial is a partner at Holland & Knight in Miami. He’s a real estate and technology attorney and was part of the innovation team that created an automated process to close Paycheck Protection Program loans for a large Florida-based regional bank. Amuial also advised a Florida-based real estate development firm on how to leverage existing technologies to help close a major transaction in a short time period.

Explain what innovative steps you’ve taken to stay productive during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Luckily, my practice was already almost entirely paperless (with the exception of a few documents that are required be wet-ink originals), prior to the pandemic. Our Holland & Knight team was already collaborating via Zoom and Microsoft Teams, and we were already leveraging interactive workflow software, like Evernote. What this has allowed me is a bit of time to help others get up to speed with the technology platforms being used heavily as a result of the pandemic.
