A Coral Gables litigator said that more litigation against residential and commercial properties could lead to greater caution that would prevent future toddlers from drowning or dying from complications of near drowning.

Michael Haggard, the managing partner at the Haggard Law Firm, noted that he obtained a $100 million verdict nearly two decades ago in a case in which an apartment complex, neglected its broken pool gate, almost resulting in a toddler drowning.
