Connecticut's Client Security Fund could soon be out of money due to an alarming surge of attorney malfeasance, officials warn. The problem may be severe enough to require raising the $75 annual assessments that lawyers pay into the fund, force payouts on pending claims to be capped, or both. According to Chief Disciplinary Counsel Mark Dubois, small amounts of lawyer theft add up quickly, and nobody knows what to do about it.
