The turmoil in the venture capital markets makes an event like the upcoming Crossroads Venture Fair even more important as a source for capital. Markets have recalibrated, as have the investors, but opportunities abound for those who meet the new realities.

The flow of money in the venture cycle begins with the investors who put money with venture capital firms, traditionally institutional investors such as pension funds, financial companies, corporations and wealthy individuals. The venture funds, which receive their funding either directly or indirectly through some type of gate keeper, in turn re-deploy the money to portfolio companies. Upon a liquidity event, the gains on that investment flow back upstream to the funds, their general partners and the institutional investors.
