“There are serious and significant issues related to the plaintiff’s abuse of alcohol and/or other substances.” “The plaintiff, a mother of three, ‘is running the streets every night.’” “The husband’s offensive and harmful statements regarding his wife are direct attempts on his part to estrange the minor children.” “The presence of the father in the marital residence adversely affects the health and well-being of the mother and minor children.” “The wife’s numerous affairs and exposure of her current boyfriend to the children is not in their best interest.”

The above are just a small sample of quotes from recent motions in contentious family law cases. Although motions are public records, it takes some effort to see the information they contain. If you want a copy of a motion, you need to drive to the courthouse on a weekday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., requisition the file and pay one dollar per page.
