The fall hiring season at Connecticut law firms has been notably brisk, with more fresh-out-of-law-school associates being added to a mix that in recent years featured a higher number of lateral partners.

As the days get shorter and the time from the depths of the economic downturn grows longer, there appears to be a greater need for associates who can take on transactional legal work in real estate or corporate law matters, managing partners say. That’s bucking a trend of several years in which litigation led the hiring needs of larger and mid-sized firms in the state.
