An attorney who specializes in the legal rights of abused children has been tapped as Connecticut's new state child advocate.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Thursday announced the appointment of Sarah Eagan of West Hartford to the post. Egan will replace Jamey Bell, who announced plans in May her plans to become the new executive director of Greater Hartford Legal Aid.
