The first revision of Connecticut’s Probate Rules of Court since 1974 spells out brand new procedures for many topics, including discovery, audio recording, telephone conferencing, and news media coverage.
Last year, following an act of the legislature, Connecticut’s 117 probate courts were consolidated into 54 districts. Of those, 22 continue with their old boundaries, and 32 are combinations of two or more smaller probate courts. Financial and administrative streamlining have been underway for over two years, under Probate Court Administrator Paul J. Knierim.
