The Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association chose U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley as its centerpiece speaker at its recent annual meeting, a move that speaks volumes about the changes on Capitol Hill and in political campaign finance.

Braley, a Democrat from Iowa, explained to an attentive audience at the Waters Edge conference center in Westbrook last week about how he’s opposed monetary “caps” on pain-and-suffering damages in medical malpractice cases, and how his stance has left him politically vulnerable.
