In the 1990s, a Stamford lawyer who liked to run on Greenwich’s beaches filed a much-publicized lawsuit that eventually opened the wealthy community’s parks to out-of-towners. Now a 77-year-old Stamford bicyclist has picked up the torch.

U.S. District Court Judge Janet C. Hall has ruled that Paul S. Kempner, a retired real estate investor, can go forward with a First Amendment case in his quest to give people who are not Greenwich residents equal access of the town’s beachfront park.
