New London attorney Austin R. "Ryan" McGuigan’sSept. 27 arrest came six weeks after his wife made a 911 call claiming that the Rome McGuigan partner was wielding a butcher’s knife, slashing her car tires and threatening to kill her.

Lt. Louis Fasaro of the State Police barracks in Montville, said the investigation took time because officers were unable to speak with Ryan McGuigan, the 36-year-old son of former Chief State’s Attorney Austin McGuigan, immediately after the Aug. 14 incident.
