While shopping at a Super Stop & Shop in Hamden recently, Bingham McCutchen attorney Lisa Valentovish nearly bumped her cart into that of another customer while rounding a corner. “Sumimasen,” she said, as she bowed her head slightly in deference.

Understandably, the other customer looked at Valentovish like she was crazy, not understanding the common Japanese word for, “Excuse me, I’m sorry, forgive me.”
