The U.S. Justice Department on Monday evening gave its approval to one of former President Donald Trump’s proposed special master candidates, Raymond Dearie, a retired judge from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York who served on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

DOJ expressed its opposition to Trump’s other suggestion, Paul Huck Jr., a former Jones Day partner and founder of The Huck Law Firm.
