A Hartford-based attorney who spent $1.5 million on a custom-built home and luxury cars while failing to pay taxes for several years was sentenced by a federal judge to two years in prison, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Thursday.

Deron D. Freeman, 47, an attorney who owned The Law Offices of Deron Freeman, was found guilty of three felony counts of making and subscribing a false tax return, and four misdemeanor counts of failure to pay income tax in April.
