The state Supreme Court ruled that a convicted murderer’s constitutional rights were not violated by the incarceration of three witnesses, whom a state prosecutor argued needed to be detained in order to secure their testimony during trial.

The defendant, Damarquis Gray, was charged with numerous crimes, including felony murder, after fatally shooting 20-year-old Durrell Law outside a housing project in New Haven on Jan. 20, 2014, according to court documents.
