A large team of litigators in Washington, D.C.—including one of the firm’s co-managing partners —is leaving Shipman & Goodwin to form a new firm due to apparent and potential conflicts of interest that could cause impediments to growth, the firm and the departing team announced jointly Tuesday.

Shipman co-managing partner Leander Dolphin said the divorce was “amicable,” as did Jim Ruggeri, the leader of the team that is leaving.
