ESPN has promoted Eleanor “Nell” DeVane, who has spent more than 20 years in the network’s legal department over two stints, to chief counsel.

DeVane, who’s been deputy chief counsel since 2012, will start her new role in January at The Walt Disney Co. subsidiary, succeeding Diane Morse, who is retiring after 25 years in the department, the last six as its leader.
