Audi found itself looking for a new top boss on Monday after Munich prosecutors arrested CEO Rupert Stadler as part of their investigation into emissions test cheating.

In a statement to Corporate Counsel Monday, Jurgen De Graeve, head of Audi corporate communications, said: “We confirm that Rupert Stadler was taken into custody pending trial this morning at the request of the Munich II Public Prosecutor’s Office. In view of the ongoing investigations, we have no further comment to make on this matter. The presumption of innocence continues to apply for Mr. Stadler.”
