The international soccer group FIFA, its management racked by scandals, has taken a big step in its comprehensive reform plan by naming its first ever chief compliance officer.

The governing group announced Sept. 12 that Edward Hanover, head of compliance for emerging markets at Takeda Pharmaceuticals in Singapore, will begin the job on Oct. 1. With a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, Hanover has worked in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
