There’s no need to crack open the fortune cookies. Dan Harris of China Law Blog predicts what will be happening on the powerhouse’s legal front this year, and he says his look into the future is less boring than usual.

In 2013, he anticipated the following four trends: China will step up its crackdown on foreigners violating visa laws; it will intensify efforts to shut down illegal and unregistered foreign businesses; the country will step up tax collection efforts and, lastly, China will also increase litigation. And Harris said those were the same he has cited from year to year. “The trends became so obvious and so repetitive,” he says. But this year he has two new items to add to the laundry list.
