James R. “Jim” Harper III stands accused in Cobb County of racketeering and theft from his former client, Smyrna-based international gun maker Glock Inc., owned by Gaston Glock, the steely Austrian who once fought off a hit man with his bare hands and developed and marketed what is now a favorite sidearm for law enforcement and military personnel.

Harper, 55, and two others who assisted him with internal investigations at Glock — Loganville businessman Jerry W. Chapman, 62, and Lawrenceville solo practitioner Jeffrey L. Pombert, 42 — were indicted by a Cobb County grand jury. The 11-count indictment charges the defendants with a conspiracy to take $3 million of the company’s money while they worked on an investigation of other executives accused of stealing from Glock.
