Few phrases are as compelling for legal departments as “digital transformation.” Or at least that’s what recent studies suggest.

A Deloitte study, for instance, found 43% of legal leaders said transformation is a top priority in their legal function. But even the most seasoned in-house attorney often has trouble figuring out what that means, in part because the term can refer to anything from bringing simple automation and tech tools to the legal department to carrying out a radical restructuring.
