Surgical implant manufacturer Surgalign has appointed Paolo Amoruso as its new general counsel and corporate secretary, months after the attorney joined the Deerfield, Illinois-based company as its interim legal chief.

According to the SEC charges, the company’s former chief executive officer and chief financial officer covered up disappointing sales numbers by shipping future orders ahead of schedule.
