Marshall University in West Virginia has appointed the vice chairman of its board of governors, H. Toney Stroud, to serve as general counsel.
Stroud succeeds Marshall’s longtime chief legal officer Layton Cottrill, who will retire at the end of June after 33 years with the university. Stroud, who has been on Marshall’s board since 2018, is resigning from that role to accept the GC position.
