From the sudden exit of the Coca-Cola Co.’s general counsel to PayPal Holdings Inc.’s top lawyer joining the Great Resignation and the Ford Motor Co.’s appointment of a new legal chief, the past year has seen a number of noteworthy shake-ups at the upper echelons of corporate legal departments.

The most talked about GC departure of the year occurred in April, when Coca-Cola revealed that Bradley Gayton had resigned after eight months on the job for the Atlanta-based beverage giant. Shortly before he hung up his top lawyer hat, Gayton had made a splash by introducing stringent diversity guidelines for the company’s outside counsel.
