Covia, a provider of minerals to the manufacturing and energy markets that emerged from bankruptcy a year ago, has hired Duncan Stuart as chief legal officer.

Stuart, who also will be executive vice president and secretary, joins Covia from the Dow Chemical Co., where he spent 28 years serving in senior legal positions, most recently deputy general counsel. During his tenure at Dow, he gained experience in a range of areas, including M&A, corporate transactions and strategy, litigation and operations.
