American companies are adding chief legal officers to their C-suites at a rapid-fire rate, according to a new study by LinkedIn.

In an analysis of more than 100,000 U.S. hiring decisions, all involving people with “chief” in their job titles, LinkedIn found chief legal officer hiring rates increased by 53% since September 2020. Three other job titles experienced even greater growth—chief diversity and inclusion officer (111%), chief underwriting officer (71%) and chief people officer (61%).
