Burgeoning cannabis firm The Parent Co., which lists rap mogul and businessman Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter as its chief visionary officer, has revamped its legal department with the addition of two in-house leaders. The company also is involved in a new nationwide campaign challenging marijuana criminalization laws.

Parent formed earlier this year when Subversive Capital Acquisition Corp. acquired two other California cannabis firms, Left Coast Ventures Inc. and CMG Partners Inc. The deal created the “largest vertically integrated cannabis operation in California,” according to the newly formed company, which boasts backing from other big names in the music industry, including DJ Khaled, Meek Mill and Rihanna.
