Summer hiring seems to be staying steady as August shows a healthy number of top lawyer appointments amid the COVID-19 recession.

It mirrors June and July where in-house hiring seems to be trying to balance back to normal. With the pandemic still in effect, it’ll be hard to determine the long-term impact on in-house hiring. Legal recruiters in late July told Corporate Counsel that the general counsel and chief legal officer positions are still being filled though the competition is high for a limited number of other in-house roles.
