King & Wood Mallesons has hired a partner in Perth.

Shaun McRobert joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, where he was a partner in charge of the firm’s mining, infrastructure and commodities group.

McRobert specializes in cross-border transactions, particularly those involving state-owned companies, but also handles other corporate matters. He led the Norton Rose Fulbright team advising Mongolian state-run coal miner Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi on its planned $3 billion initial public offering in Ulaanbaatar, Hong Kong, and London. The IPO, which was originally schedules for earlier this year, was postponed until 2014.

McRobert joined former Deacons Australia in 1999 as a partner in Perth and stayed through the firm’s subsequent merger with Norton Rose eleven years later. In 2010, he relocated to the firm’s Hong Kong office and stayed for three years. He returned to Perth last January.

King & Wood Mallesons employs over 2,700 lawyers in 30 offices worldwide.
