The Sinopec offering, which closed Wednesday, is the largest corporate bond offering in Asia, apart from Japan, in the last decade. Skadden also advised the Chinese state-owned oil company on a $3 billion bond offering last June.
Sinopec will use the funds raised to acquire overseas assets as well as to repay existing debt.
