Hong Kong firm Deacons has recruited a private equity partner.

Robert Woll is moving over from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, where he had been co-partner-in-charge of the firm’s Beijing office for the past six years.

Woll specializes in private equity fund formation and related transactions in China and other Asian markets. He also advises clients on infrastructure and energy project matters in the region.

Prior to his move to Beijing, Woll had worked in Hong Kong for nearly eight years as a partner with Morrison & Foerster, five of which were as managing partner of the office. He was a partner in Los Angeles and Hong Kong at the former Dewey Ballantine between 1996 and 1999, as well as at Arnold Porter in Los Angeles for three years before that.

Woll is joining Deacons’ 42-lawyer financial services group, which includes seven partners. The firm employs about 70 lawyers in Hong Kong.
