Minter Ellison has added a new partner to its Perth office.
Project finance specialist Gemey Visscher is joining the firm from Freehills, where she worked for 25 years, the last 15 as a partner.
The firm said the addition of Visscher would greatly bolster its infrastructure finance capabilities in Perth, Australia’s mining capital and the focus of much foreign investment in recent years, especially from China.
Minter Ellison has been steadily adding partners to its Perth office since its re-launch in the Western Australian capital last fall. Most of its earlier Perth team left last August to launch an Australian arm for U.S. firm Squire Sanders.
Visscher is joining Minter Ellison just as her former firm Freehills announced it will be merging with U.K. firm Herbert Smith in October.
