With energy work booming across Big Law, Kirkland & Ellis said it is adding a tax partner with “deep experience” in energy transition and renewables from Allen & Overy.

The firm said Tuesday that Sam Kamyans has joined its tax group in Washington, D.C., as the legal industry has continued rapidly growing energy practices despite lingering uncertainty in the market. Meanwhile, Kamyans’ departure from A&O comes just a month after the U.K.-founded firm announced serious merger talks with New York-based Shearman & Sterling.
