Barnes & Thornburg is planting a flag in one of the hottest markets in Big Law and business in recent years, boosting its health care and capital markets practices and opening shop with a handful of laterals in Nashville.

The firm, ranked No. 78 in the latest Am Law 200 survey, has announced pickups from Holland & Knight, Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz and Tennessee firm Bass, Berry & Sims in the Music City, adding to its string of major-market office openings in such places as New York and Philadelphia, and secondary markets such as Raleigh, Ann Arbor and Salt Lake City in the last few years.
