Editor’s note: This is part of a series of articles detailing how law firms fared financially in 2021, leading up to the Am Law 100 report on April 26 and the Am Law 200 report on May 24. The full collection is available here.

Like many Am Law 100 firms, McGuireWoods had a bumper revenue year in 2021. And the firm is happy about it. The firm’s 2020 inflows of $831,051,000 grew 14.7% to $953.5 million last year. So too did revenue per lawyer (spiking 16% to $1 million) and profits per equity partner (vaulting 27% to $2.053 million). Impressive as they may be, these aren’t the numbers that managing partner Tracy Walker is most enthused about.
