The in-house recruiting world has become a “Wild West,” where law firms and corporate legal departments are dueling over diverse talent—and the well-heeled law firms are outgunning the legal departments. 

That’s according to John Gilmore, co-founder and managing partner of executive search firm BarkerGilmore in Fairport, New York. He reported that recruiters and law firms are “slugging it out” over a limited supply of mid-level legal talent, especially diverse lawyers who are in high demand.
