Some years ago, James Gilliam noticed an interesting dynamic playing out at work. After every office party, all the women would stay to clean up. The men just went back to their offices.
When one of the women filed a workers’ compensation claim after hurting herself while moving a table, Gilliam, who was at the time deputy executive director of a large nonprofit, decided that needed to change.
