In a case of first impression in New York, a Long Island judge has ruled that he can consider a church to be a marital asset for the purposes of equitable distribution.

New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur M. Diamond of Nassau County therefore denied the defendant-husband R.H.’s motion to bar the valuation of the church he founded, Brooklyn’s Grace Christian Church.
