James Tancula, Mayer Brown's leader in L.A., acknowledged that the firm's public de-equitization of 45 partners in March could have played a role in some recent departures. But he warned not to write off the L.A. office yet, saying the firm will announce next week the arrival of two Holland & Knight lawyers to beef up its dwindling real estate practice.
