Insurance companies hit with tens of thousands of claims following hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma turned to Crawford & Co.'s Global Property & Casualty Services arm to bolster their overloaded claims departments. Crawford GC Allen W. Nelson says the company's legal department gets "involved in a lot of litigation because sometimes people are not happy with what the insurance carrier decides to pay on their claim." Consequently, Crawford hires a lot of outside law firms.
