After more than four years of acrimonious litigation that included three trials in front of three different civil and criminal court judges, issues stemming from a physical confrontation at a bar were finally resolved this month when a Texas civil jury awarded $3 million in damages against Dallas lawyer Jerry W. Mooty Jr. It ultimately turned out to be the rare civil damages case where both the plaintiff and defendant walked away with money in their pockets as a result of the litigation.

The court fight was the result of a late-night face-off between Jerry W. Mooty Jr., managing partner of McCathern Mooty, and Dallas nightclub owner John Kenyon on March 22, 2001.
