In the retrial of a case in which an Ohio woman claimed she was harmed by using the Wyeth hormone replacement drug Prempro, a Philadelphia jury awarded $2.4 million to the woman and $600,000 to her husband. In the first trial, a mistrial was declared before liability was determined. It was the second completed Prempro trial in which a Philadelphia jury ruled against Wyeth."The scorecard is plaintiffs 2, Wyeth 0," said the Ohio couple's lawyer. An attorney for Wyeth says the company will appeal.

A Philadelphia jury has reached a $3 million compensatory damages verdict in the retrial of the Philadelphia Complex Litigation Center’s first hormone therapy case.
The first jury in Nelson v. Wyeth concluded in mid-October that Wyeth, if found liable during the second phase in the bifurcated litigation, would have to pay the action’s wife-and-husband plaintiffs $1.5 million.
