"We don't have the same rights as all the other people in the U.S. That's wrong," one prospective witness said. Bills introduced by state Democrats to overturn the shield law are likely to run into opposition in the GOP-controlled Senate.

Democrats who now control the state House plan what’s sure to be an emotional hearing Wednesday with testimony from people who say drugs such as Vioxx have killed or disabled their loved ones. Judiciary Committee members also could vote to ship the bills to the full House.
