A federal judge has added more than $3.3 million in prejudgment interest to a $15 million verdict a jury awarded on Nov. 20 to an Oklahoma couple whose son was killed in a 2003 single-vehicle rollover crash involving a Ford Explorer. The plaintiffs had alleged that "the defective vehicle had an inadequate roof-crush tolerance." Under Oklahoma law, courts do not have the power to deny or reduce prejudgment interest, according to the judge's order.
