An appeals court on Monday overturned the conviction against a Swedish man for online piracy in sharing files illegally on the Internet. Andreas Bawer, 29, had been the first Swede to be convicted of online piracy charges when a court in 2005 found him guilty of breaking Sweden's copyright laws by distributing a movie through a file-sharing network. Sweden, long criticized as a safe haven for online piracy, toughened its laws against file-sharing last year.
