A man convicted of shooting at two Port Authority police officers after a car chase that began at John F. Kennedy International Airport has been granted a new trial by an appeals court in Brooklyn.

A unanimous panel of the Appellate Division, 2nd Department, found that the trial judge, Queens Supreme Court Justice Stanley B. Katz, erred in refusing to allow the testimony of a witness who could have given the defendant a partial alibi and in failing to give the jury an alibi charge.
